  • Name: Amelia
  • Age:  Early late 20s.
  • Height:  5’6”
  • Relationship status: Living in sin.
  • Birthday: Same as Harpo Marx, Billy the Kid, Boris Karloff…and Miley Cyrus.  Oops.
  • Favorite color: Ocean colors, spring colors, autumn colors, jewel colors….
  • Favorite singer/band: Neko Case, Queen of Flawlessness.
  • Last song listened: “Clementine” by Tom Lehrer, lulz.
  • Favorite movie: At the moment, Footlight Parade - but ask me again tomorrow.
  • Last movie watched: The Outskirts WITHOUT subtitles.  It was…interesting.
  • Favorite book: Official favorite is Lolita; unofficial is Pnin.  All Nabokov all the time, in any event.
  • Last book read: I can’t even remember the last book I started for fun - let alone finished.  I’m pretty sure I read (or skimmed, at least) a few Freud books in their entirety last semester.  Great fun.
  • # of siblings: One.
  • # of pets: One perfect little puppybutt.
  • Best school subject: English.
  • Mac or PC? I use a PC, but my heart longs to be reunited with a Mac.
  • Cell phone type: iPhone 3.  Be jealous.
  • Current shirt color: Black cardigan and red tanktop underneath.
  • Gamer? I would sooner iron my own hands.
  • Day or night? Depends.  Give me clear, mild, un-windy weather, and I’ll take either.
  • Summer or winter? Summer, but only barely.
  • Most-visited website? Tumblr, Facebook, Gmail.  Boring.
  • Celebrity crushes: Lots, but fewer who are currently alive.  Of those, Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, and Tom Hiddleston are at the top of the list.  I think.  Like my favorite movie, my favorite famous man changes all the time, so ask me again tomorrow.

#FLAWLESS
what are some movies you can recommend me?

Welllllll, that depends on what you like!  But I would say the following are essential for EVERYONE:

  • The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1919)
  • The Last Laugh (1924)
  • The Gold Rush (1925) [take pains to see the original silent version - NOT the Chaplin-narrated 1942 re-release. honestly, narrating a fucking silent film. what a joke.]
  • The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928)
  • Pandora’s Box (1929)
  • The Blue Angel (1930)
  • M (1931)
  • Trouble in Paradise (1932)
  • Footlight Parade (1933)
  • Queen Christina (1933)
  • It Happened One Night (1934)
  • The Gay Divorcee (1934)
  • Top Hat (1935)
  • Swing Time (1936)
  • Bringing Up Baby (1938)
  • Holiday (1938)
  • Ninotchka (1939)
  • Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939)
  • The Shop Around the Corner (1940)
  • The Philadelphia Story (1940)
  • Cabin in the Sky (1940)
  • Rebecca (1940)
  • The Lady Eve (1941)
  • Casablanca (1942)
  • Shadow of a Doubt (1943)
  • Meet Me in St. Louis (1944)
  • Double Indemnity (1944)
  • The Big Sleep (1946)
  • Brief Encounter (1945)
  • Beauty and the Beast (1946)
  • The Red Shoes (1948)
  • The Third Man (1949)
  • Summertime (1955)
  • The Prince and the Showgirl (1957)
  • The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
  • Vertigo (1958)
  • North by Northwest (1959)
  • Imitation of Life (1959) [for Juanita Moore, mostly.  and just a warning: if you possess even a shred of human empathy, you will weep torrents of tears at this film.]
  • Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
  • A Hard Day’s Night (1964)
  • Giulietta of the Spirits (1965)
  • Bonnie and Clyde (1967)
  • Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)
  • Harold and Maude (1971)
  • Cabaret (1972)
  • One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975)
  • Amadeus (1984)

That’s all I can think of now.  There are more, of course, and these are DEAD obvious for the most part.  But it’s a start. (I lose interest during my lifetime.  There is no new thing under the sun.)
